Introducing PracticeLink 2.4

We’re excited to announce this year’s major release of PracticeLink! Version 2.4 was designed for the challenges faced by IP Paralegals and Legal Assistants managing high prosecution volumes. PracticeLink 2.4 introduces USPTO forms automation, more advanced citation and IDS management, planner enhancements, and new options to simplify internal communication.
Faster, Easier, Filing Preparation
Preparing USPTO filing forms is nobody’s favorite thing to do. It takes a lot of time, and there are too many opportunities to get something wrong. The only thing people like less is IDS preparation, especially when there are complex cross-citation families and hundreds of references to track.
Our new Forms and Citations module lets you create pre-defined packages of the right forms for different types of filings, with integrated checklists and workflows that speed up the review and approval process. A new citations grid makes it easy to manage citations across related matters and prepare multiple IDS filings. Integration with public data lets us download foreign references, ready to file with English translations, and automatically add published references to your cross-citation grids.
Stay in the Loop, Automatically
Even as PracticeLink helps reduce email volumes, there are times when you need to make sure everyone gets a copy of an important message. You want to keep routing instructions simple for your clients, and you don’t want to create email storms by copying everyone over and over again “just in case.”
PracticeLink 2.4 provides an option to detect when messages sent to the Docketing inbox were not copied to the matter team, and automatically forward them to people that weren’t included.
More Planner Options Help You Prioritize
The Planner view brings weekly dockets and custom “soft” reminders together on an interactive calendar view for timekeepers and assistants. New color-coding options let you separate different types of dates from the docket system into different colors. Now you can distinguish Final, non-Final, and Reminder dates coming from the docket, and still assign other colors to the PracticeLink soft dates.
Smarter Task Alerts, On Your Schedule
Ever find yourself sending reminder after reminder to your attorneys or clients to make sure important things get done? Probably not, because your attorneys stay 100% on top of everything and never get distracted.
But just in case, PracticeLink 2.4 introduces scheduled alerts with digest lists of to-do items and links to the PracticeLink task badge. Set up scheduled alert lists of last-day docket items, reminder letters to review, or any other tasks that need urgent attention.
IP Paralegals and Legal Assistants juggle countless responsibilities, and we know every minute counts. PracticeLink 2.4 makes it easier for you to stay organized, stay informed, and stay ahead of deadlines.
