Quartz IP Launches PracticeLink 2.4 to Streamline Patent Prosecution and Reduce Filing Prep Time
August 26, 2025 – Burlington, VT — Quartz IP, a leading provider of IP prosecution workflow automation, today announced the release of PracticeLink 2.4, a major update designed to cut preparation time for USPTO filings and improve operational control for intellectual property practices.
Serving five of the top ten IP firms in the United States and processing more than 700,000 inbound documents annually, Quartz IP is known for helping IP practices unify data, automate repetitive tasks, and ensure compliance with client-specific requirements.
Faster Filings, Fewer Risks
PracticeLink 2.4 debuts Forms & Citations, a powerful new module designed to simplify the end-to-end creation of USPTO-ready filing packages. Legal teams can now reduce the time it takes to generate complete packages while working with the most up-to-date USPTO forms, refreshed quarterly by Quartz IP. The module supports named form sets for compliance, manages data not typically stored in docketing systems—such as inventor addresses—and allows default values to be set for form fields. It also supports mappable custom PDFs so that firms can configure their own forms and include them with PracticeLink PTO forms in filing packages.
Family cross-citation grids are built directly into matter details, with automated reference status tracking and bulk imports from public data using existing lists or spreadsheets. Foreign references are automatically pulled, paired with English translations of abstracts, descriptions and claims that are merged seamlessly to the beginning of foreign language documents. PracticeLink also automatically syncs to public data for identifying any newly cited references from related matters that were not already accounted for on the grid.
Before filing, teams can preview the entire forms package—including documents and references—through an integrated review and approval workflow. Built-in naming rules ensure documents comply with client-specific requirements and DMS profiles, streamlining accuracy and consistency across every matter.
“Our clients told us USPTO filings were eating into time they’d rather spend on substantive legal work,” said Adam Kenney, CEO at Quartz IP. “PracticeLink 2.4 gives them that time back—while strengthening compliance and quality controls across the practice.”
Beyond the new module, PracticeLink 2.4 adds scheduled Badge reports to deliver automated alerts to notify users where there are outstanding tasks they are responsible for expanded Planner color-coding to quickly distinguish between date types, and a new intake dashboard for real-time monitoring of document processing.
2.4 also introduces automated email forwarding for emails that come into centralized inboxes so that missed CCs aren’t on manual processes for distribution. Additional workflow controls—like re-usable checklist fields, “Workflow Owner” safeguards, and enhanced badge formatting—give IP teams more oversight and flexibility, reducing errors while keeping daily operations moving efficiently.
Impact Across the Practice
From patent attorneys aiming to boost billable productivity, to docketing managers juggling hundreds of deadlines, to IT teams seeking secure, low-maintenance integrations, PracticeLink 2.4 addresses the needs of the entire IP operations ecosystem. Quartz IP’s no-code process design allows firms to adapt workflows quickly without developer resources, ensuring that practices can evolve alongside client demands.
